How to view Core Web Vitals data in Google Search Console?

Core Web Vitals are a set of performance metrics Google uses to understand real user experience on a website. These metrics are gathered from the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX) and are also considered a ranking factor in Google Search results. Monitoring them regularly helps identify performance issues that may affect visibility and user engagement.

Accessing the Core Web Vitals Report

To review your site’s Core Web Vitals data, open Google Search Console and select Core Web Vitals from the left-hand navigation menu.
This section provides an overview of how real users experience your website based on field data.

The report is divided into mobile and desktop performance, allowing you to evaluate user experience across different devices.

Understanding the Core Web Vitals Overview

Once inside the report, Google categorizes your pages into three experience levels:

  • Good

  • Needs improvement

  • Poor

Click Open report to access detailed insights. You’ll see a bar graph indicating how many URLs meet Google’s performance standards and how many require optimization. By default, only pages marked as Poor are highlighted. You can expand the view by selecting Needs improvement and Good to review the full dataset.

Identifying Performance Issues

Below the performance chart, Google lists reasons why certain URLs fail to meet Core Web Vitals standards. These issues fall under three key metrics:

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): Indicates slow loading times when the main content takes too long to appear.

  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): Measures visual instability caused by unexpected layout movement.

  • Interaction to Next Paint (INP): Reflects delays in user interaction responsiveness.

For each issue, Search Console also shows the number of affected pages, helping you prioritize fixes based on impact.

Core Web Vitals Thresholds to Meet

To pass Google’s Core Web Vitals assessment, pages should meet the following benchmarks:

  • LCP: Less than 2.5 seconds

  • CLS: Below 0.1

  • INP: Under 200 milliseconds

Meeting these thresholds improves user experience and supports better search performance.
